Green Building Optimization

Green Building is a Europe-wide program coordinated by German Energy Agency, dena. The program was launched by the European Commission in 2005. Ten organizations from nine European countries act as national contacts. The program aims at a consulting service for building owners to reduce the energy demand of non-residential buildings and an initiation of investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Green Building wants to support pioneer companies in meeting the obligation to increase energy efficiency in their non-residental buildings by providing information and public recognition. The energy efficiency shall exceed legal requirements, be technically reliable and efficient. The program includes an optional award for building owners that can prove an at least 25% less primary energy demand for their building. The program's main focus is on buildings that are not used for residential purposes, e.g. office buildings, schools, swimming pools and industrial buildings.

Investors can apply for the status of a Green Building Partner. To acquire the status of a Green Building Partner, the primary energy demand (thermal heat, hot water and electricity) of their building must be 25% lower than the nationally required energy standard. For a certificate the primary energy demand must be 50% lower than that nationally required energy standard. All private and public companies or organizations that own non-residential buildings, or are long-term renters, or new builders can become Green Building Partner. Green Building Partners are involved in Europe-wide press and public relations and represented on the national Green Building web site. Thus, Green Building facilitates public recognition for the Green Building Partner. The status Green Building Partner will expire three years after the final construction measures are completed.

The company Consulting engineers b+e is a Green Building Endorser certified by the European Commission. We proved our competence in planning and realization of measures to increase energy efficiency and integrate renewable energy in several consultations and were significantly involved in supporting building owners to achieve Green Building objectives.
